Eli Chawla
Instructor: Electric Bass, Stand Up Bass
Eli Chawla is a young bassist from the northern suburbs of Chicago who has already built a blossoming career rooted in versatility. With both upright and electric bass, he has become a skilled jazz, rock, funk, classical, blues, and indie musician with many groups inside and outside his school. He has made a name for himself in the Chicago high-school jazz scene after opening for the Chicago Neighborhoods Project at the New Trier Jazz Festival this past February, allowing him to become a gigging musician with many combos in his age group.

Apart from jazz, he has begun to explore the world of alternative rock and indie music with his band Zen’s Ladder. The group has let him gain experience collaborating with young musicians from across the northern suburbs of Chicago playing all different kinds of indie music, including recording bass with post-hardcore duo Darling, I’m Dying. On his own, he’s been writing and arranging his own music for himself as well as other artists.
